Queen Sigmae du Lux, referred to as the Grand Duchess of Lorraine by the Aquitanian Senate, is Queen of the region of Lux, also called Lorraine. As the land of Lux is also called the light of the West, Sigmae is occasionally referred to as the Beacon of Hope or the Light of the Lands. The peoples of Lorraine look to her for guidance and help. She is known for her benevolent deeds, such as building orphanages and soup kitchens and giving families enough money and goods to make a fresh start on the frontier. She asks for taxes, but her requests are gentle on merchants and traders and many pay them gladly -- happy to have a benevolent ruler. All of the craftspeople and merchants within her kingdom have unified behind her in a strong show of support.

It is well-known throughout the Germanic lands that she is a resurfaced descendant of the ancient line of Kings descended from Clovis the first and has reclaimed the throne of her ancestors. Sigmae aims to bring both justice and governance to a land previously brought down to ruins by Bolg the Destroyer some 20 years ago.

Sigmae has dedicated her life to Orion, whom she describes as the one Saint leading all others. She is considered to be the supreme commander of the Hospitaler Order, although does not actively lead the Order herself. There is some dispute between Sigmae and her daughter Irene D'Arcy over the source of Sigmae's power; Irene contends that her method is nothing better than channeling divine energy.
